About the role:
We are working with a range of welcoming and inclusive specialist SEND schools and provisions in and around Spalding that are seeking passionate and adaptable SEND Classroom Teachers. These opportunities are available on a supply basis, offering flexibility through both day-to-day cover and short-term teaching placements.
As a SEND Teacher, you will support children and young people with a variety of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and MLD/ SLD. You will create engaging, accessible learning experiences that promote academic progress, independence, confidence, and personal development within a nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that are adapted to meet the individual learning needs and abilities of pupils with SEND.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and encouraged to achieve their potential.
- Differentiate learning activities and resources to ensure all learners can access the curriculum and experience success.
- Manage classroom behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies and establish clear, consistent routines.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff, therapists, and other professionals to provide effective and coordinated support.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where required to meet individual targets.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development alongside their academic learning.
- Maintain high expectations while promoting independence, confidence, and resilience.
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, either within a specialist setting or mainstream environment.
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and adapting the curriculum to meet a range of learning needs.
- Knowledge of SEND including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and Learning Difficulties is highly desirable.
- Excellent classroom management skills with a patient, flexible, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
