Job Title: MASH Social Worker – Children’s Services Location: Penrith (Hybrid working – provisionally 6 days per month onsite) Contract: 3-month contract, ongoing Pay Rate: £45 per hour umbrella £39.49 PAYE (inclusive) £35.24 PAYE (exclusive) Job Overview We are currently recruiting an experienced Children’s MASH Social Worker to join a Local Authority Children’s Services team based in Penrith . The role sits within the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and focuses on safeguarding, screening, and decision-making at the front door. The client is offering hybrid working , with an expectation of approximately 6 days per month in the office (provisionally) . Key Responsibilities Screen and triage incoming safeguarding referrals concerning children and young people Undertake robust risk assessments and make informed threshold decisions Decide appropriate next steps, including Early Help, Child in Need, or Child Protection pathways Work closely with partner agencies such as Police, Health, Education, and Early Help Ensure all decisions are clearly recorded and evidence-based Maintain high-quality, timely case recording in line with statutory guidance Apply legislation including the Children Act 1989 & 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children Manage workload effectively in a fast-paced MASH environment Essential Requirements Qualified Social Worker Registered with Social Work England Recent Children’s Social Work experience within a Local Authority MASH experience is highly desirable Strong safeguarding knowledge and analytical decision-making skills Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency setting Enhanced DBS (Update Service desirable) Working Arrangements Hybrid working model Provisionally 6 days per month onsite in Penrith Remainder of work completed remotely Why Apply?
