About the Role

Experienced IT Analyst responsible for the stability, security, and ongoing improvement of enterprise IT environments. The role delivers end-user support, manages servers, networks, virtualisation and cloud platforms, and contributes to cybersecurity, resilience, and infrastructure projects while supporting users both remotely and on-site.

     

Overview Job Description:

This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the organisations IT estate. You’ll provide hands-on technical support across infrastructure, systems, and end-user technology, while contributing to projects, cybersecurity initiatives, and continuous improvement across a multi-site environment.

      

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

End-user Technology & Support:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining end-user hardware including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, thin clients, peripherals, and cabling.
  • Deploying, configuring, and supporting a wide range of business applications and software platforms.
  • Delivering high-quality end-user support and training, both remotely and on-site.
  • Resolving incidents and requests via the IT helpdesk, meeting agreed service levels.

      

Infrastructure, Systems & Cloud:

  • Supporting server environments and core IT systems.
  • Configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure including switches, routers, and related devices.
  • Managing virtualised platforms (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud services including Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Proactively monitoring system performance, identifying risks and implementing preventative actions.
  • Implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions.

      

Security, Projects & Governance:

  • Applying IT security best practice across infrastructure, networks, and end-user environments.
  • Contributing to cybersecurity initiatives, including access controls, MFA, VPNs, and secure multi-site connectivity.
  • Participating in IT projects from design through migration and deployment.
  • Maintaining clear SOPs and technical documentation.
  • Staying informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practice.

      

Operational Considerations:

  • Participating in a limited on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours work for critical maintenance.
  • Working independently while collaborating within a supportive IT Team.
  • Operating effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

      

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar IT support or infrastructure role.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server environments (AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP).
  • Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
  • Hands-on experience with virtualisation (VMware or Hyper-V).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Experience securing multi-site environments using MFA, VPNs, and access controls.
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Sound understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Full UK driving licence.

      

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Scripting or automation experience (e.g. PowerShell).
  • Exposure to wider platforms and tools (e.g. Power Platform, SharePoint, telephony, Linux, or e-commerce systems).
  • Industry experience within manufacturing or automotive environments.
  • Relevant certifications or degree-level education.
  • 5+ years’ experience in IT roles.
