About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and student-focused Spanish Teacher who is committed to helping young people thrive academically, socially, and culturally. This role is ideal for a teacher who believes language learning should be engaging, relevant, and confidence-building, and who can create a classroom environment where every student feels supported and motivated to succeed.
You will teach Spanish across Key Stages 3-5, helping students develop strong communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Beyond exam success, you will play a key role in broadening students' global awareness and appreciation of Hispanic cultures.
Student-Focused Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver inclusive, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners, from beginners to high-achieving linguists
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities, including SEN and EAL students
- Build students' confidence in spoken Spanish through interactive activities, discussion, and real-life scenarios
- Track student progress carefully, identifying gaps and providing targeted support and intervention
- Provide regular, constructive feedback that helps students understand how to improve
- Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE and A-Level exams while maintaining a love of learning
- Create a safe, respectful classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes
- Encourage student curiosity about Spanish-speaking countries, traditions, and global issues
Supporting Student Development
- Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, independence, and a growth mindset
- Support students' personal development, wellbeing, and confidence in and beyond the classroom
- Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as language clubs, cultural events, and trips (where applicable)
- Work collaboratively with pastoral teams to support individual student needs
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in Spanish or a related field
- Experience teaching Spanish at secondary level (preferred)
- Strong understanding of effective, inclusive teaching practices
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to student success
