GSL Education are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Headteacher to join a forward-thinking, supportive school in Newcastle upon Tyne. What You’ll Be Doing as Deputy Head: Leading on key areas of school improvement in line with the school’s vision and development plan Supporting and managing teaching staff to ensure high-quality learning and progress Upholding strong safeguarding, behaviour, and pastoral systems across the school Delivering high-impact teaching where required and modelling outstanding practice Working closely with the Headteacher, stakeholders, governors, and the wider school community Implementing policies, monitoring standards, and ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines What We’re Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) — essential Proven leadership experience at SLT level (Assistant Head, Acting Deputy Head, or similar) A strategic thinker with excellent communication and decision‑making skills Strong understanding of curriculum development and school improvement frameworks Experience in driving positive outcomes for pupils and leading teams effectively An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
