About the Role

Overview:
A well-established and highly respected heavy civil construction contractor is seeking an Assistant Estimating Manager to help lead its estimating department. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced estimating professional looking to step into a senior leadership role with a stable, growing organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading the day-to-day operations of the estimating department.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of professional estimators.
  • Prepare and review competitive bids for heavy highway, site development, and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, quantities, subcontractor pricing, and project risks.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, project management, field personnel, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the bidding process.
  • Support project handoff, budgeting, change order pricing, and estimate reviews.
  • Help improve estimating procedures, forecasting, and overall department performance.

Qualified Candidates Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 8+ years of estimating or project management experience in heavy highway, civil, or site construction.
  • Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $100,000 to $150 million.
  • Strong knowledge of earthwork, utilities, grading, asphalt paving, concrete, drainage, bridges, or highway construction.
  • Leadership experience managing or mentoring estimating teams.
  • Proficiency with HCSS Estimating and Microsoft Office is preferred.
