Fire & Security Technician
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Middlesborough

Salary: £38,481 basic (including standby payment)

Role Overview

As a Fire & Security Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across fire and security systems at supermarket sites. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment remains fully operational, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and repair works in line with customer KPIs, including response times, first-time fix, and job completion.
  • Deliver all planned, reactive, and statutory maintenance in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Complete PPM tasks within agreed timescales, ensuring all documentation is accurate and meets required standards.
  • Respond promptly to service requests via the Helpdesk during working hours and participate in the on-call rota where required.
  • Diagnose faults effectively and identify when equipment requires replacement or further corrective action.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • GCSE level education (or equivalent)
  • Electrical qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds)
  • Experience with CCTV systems (IP and analogue)
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems

Desirable:

  • IPAF licence (training can be provided)

Candidate Profile

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good colour vision for safe maintenance of electrical and electronic systems
