Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server)

Detailed description of work task to be carried out

Support the migration and operation of Microsoft SQL Server databases from on‑premises (VMware) to Google Cloud, ensuring secure, compliant, and stable database services for business‑critical applications.

 

Key responsibilities
Execute VMware → Google Cloud (GCE / VM‑based) migrations for SQL Server databases
Support migration planning, execution, validation, and post‑migration stabilization
Operate SQL Server databases in hybrid (on‑prem + cloud) environments
Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting
Support database changes, releases, and incidents in line with ITSM processes
Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, and Application teams
Ensure documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures are updated

 

Must-have knowledge and experience Strong hands‑on experience as a SQL Server DBA / Database Engineer
Solid experience with SQL Server on Windows in enterprise environments
Experience with cloud‑based SQL Server deployments, preferably on Google Cloud (GCE)
Experience with database migrations from on‑prem to cloud
Knowledge of High Availability / Disaster Recovery (e.g. Always On, clustering)
Experience working in regulated environments (banking, finance, or similar)
SQL Server performance tuning and troubleshooting expertise Nice-to-have knowledge and experience Experience with hybrid cloud setups
Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation concepts
Exposure to audit, risk, or compliance requirements
