Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)

Detailed description of work task to be carried out

Support the migration, operation, and optimization of PostgreSQL databases on Google Cloud, enabling reliable and compliant database services for both traditional and cloud‑native workloads.

 

Key responsibilities
Migrate PostgreSQL databases from on‑premises platforms to Google Cloud
Support PostgreSQL running on VM‑based and/or managed cloud services
Perform database upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and optimization
Support onboarding of applications to PostgreSQL platforms
Troubleshoot incidents and support change and release activities
Collaborate with cloud, security, and application stakeholders
Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles

 

Must-have knowledge and experience Strong hands‑on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA / Database Engineer
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, performance, and configuration
Experience with PostgreSQL on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud
Hands‑on experience with database migrations (on‑prem → cloud)
Understanding of replication, backup, recovery, and HA concepts
Experience working in enterprise / regulated environments Nice-to-have knowledge and experience Experience with PostgreSQL managed services and Google Cloud infrastructure
Automation and scripting experience
Familiarity with cloud security and compliance requirements
