Job Summary:

The quality assurance/ quality control pre-op technician will focus on equipment inspection prior to start of operation so the production areas can be released to production. They are also responsible for implementing the company’s quality programs. The tech will be responsible to conduct QA audits within the manufacturing facility and ensure GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, CCP and Gold Standard compliance. Evaluates finished goods to ensure strict adherence to internal and customer specifications regarding quality and safety. Responsible for monitoring all processes within the operation such as receiving, cooking, mixing, assembling, packaging, labeling and shipping for adherence to internal and regulatory requirements. Maintains and reviews documents for HACCP, FDA and USDA compliance. Responsible for certain CCP’s.

Essential Duties and Responsibities: 

Perform pre-operational and operational inspections of equipment, employees and processes using sensory (visual) and instrumental methods. 

Inspects quality and temperature of incoming ingredients including packaging materials. 

Analyze and document analysis of materials used in manufacturing. 

Ensures adherence to SOPs and specifications are being followed in the manufacturing areas 

Monitor, record, and verify HACCP documents. 

Perform GMP, SSOP audits and establish corrective actions and preventive measures. 

Conduct and facilitate daily food safety and quality audit check lists 

Perform temperature measurement and monitoring inside manufacturing rooms as well as storage areas. 

Support the QA/QC department and production operations to maintain high standards of quality including the execution on the production lines of the company’s Gold Standard Process. 

Place and remove products from hold and update the hold log as required. 

Maintain accurate and up to date records 

Conduct package quality inspection and isolate the product that does not meet standards including bagger leak checks. 

Ensure Quality and Food Safety by adhering to the company’s Food Safety and Quality System Procedures 

Performs or assists with additional duties as assigned by QA Lead/Supervisor and/or management 

Responsible for the produce wash water CCP and its implementation in compliance with corporate policy. A QA Technician will spend about 2% of their day handling undiluted chemicals with proper Personal Protective Equipment provided. The tech will spend 25% of their day handling diluted chemicals. The chemicals are kept in the work area and are used for cleaning the product before assembling.

 Responsible for operating and overseeing the metal detection as a CCP in compliance with corporate policy. 

Interacts with regulatory agencies such as USDA as needed especially when dealing with non-compliance issues at the time of pre-op.

Qualifications: 

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience in Quality Assurance or 1-2 years’ experience in food processing a plus 

Must not be food allergen sensitive 

Ability to quickly learn and comply with company safety, quality, Good Manufacturing, and other required policies and procedures Demonstrated analytical and technical capabilities, leadership skills, and good communication skills, including written, electronic, and verbal

Must be available to work any/all shifts, holidays, and overtime on occasion if business needs change ? Capability to work in a refrigerated environment for long period of time 

Ability to work on a team 

Must be able to work regular, mandatory overtime and be flexible with work schedule
