We do occasionally have paid internship opportunities. These will always be advertised on our jobs portal where you will need to apply. You can Register Your Interest and receive an email every time we post an opportunity that matches your search criteria. We do not accept speculative CV applications for internships.
Unfortunately we do not currently offer work experience, work placement or volunteering opportunities. We are a relatively small organisation and do not currently have the capacity to manage placements such as these, although this is something we are considering for the future. We also want to ensure that any opportunities we do offer are fairly compensated, and therefore open to the widest number of people. If you are looking to gain experience in our field, do look out for our paid internship opportunities, which we advertise on our careers site. You can Register Your Interest and be notified as soon as we post an opportunity that matches your criteria.

Unfortunately due to the number of applications we receive for our roles, and to ensure fairness, we are unable to offer you the chance of speaking with the hiring team before you apply. If you have specific questions on the role, we encourage you to mention these in your application when applying. Should you be shortlisted for interview, you will have a chance to discuss your questions with the interview panel.
You can find all of our office locations on our website.
We have a remote working framework that allows for significant remote working within the country where your contract was issued. See our Benefits page for more information. It is not possible to work for us remotely in a country where we do not have a registered office on a long-term basis.
The working language at ClientEarth is English and therefore all applications must be made in English. Should you apply in another language we may reject your application.
For the majority of our roles, candidates must have the existing right to work in the country where the job is based. Occasionally, if a role is particularly hard to fill we will be able to provide visa sponsorship. Where this is the case it will be clearly stated in the job ad.
Closing dates are listed at the top of the job advert on our jobs portal. Please note that all jobs close at 23:59 UK time on the advertised closing date.
Submission of this information is voluntary and will only be used for statistical monitoring purposes. Disclosure of this information will help us to monitor our commitment towards creating equal opportunities. You can work on your application at any time up to the advertised closing date. Click the “Not ready to submit the application yet? Save application for later” button at the bottom of the application form and you will receive an email link that will take you back to your saved application.
You can amend your application at any time up until you submit it. You will not be able to amend your application after submitting it. We therefore recommend you double check your application before submitting it.
You can use the Manage Your Data tool to amend or delete your profile. Enter the email address that you used to create your profile and you will be sent a link to a web page where you can view all applications that you have submitted. You also have the ability to remove your applications, i.e. remove your personal information from our system.
When you have successfully submitted your application you will receive an automated confirmation email. If you haven’t received this message please check your spam/junk email folder.
Once you have received your confirmation email, we will next be in touch with an update when we have completed our shortlisting process. This can take several weeks, depending on the number of applications we receive. All candidates will receive an email update, either to invite them to interview, or to let them know they have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
For most of our roles, we run two rounds of interviews, with the stronger candidates from the first round being invited to the second round. Generally, first round interviews will be online via Teams. Second round interviews may also be on Teams, or potentially face-to-face if logistics allow.
See the “Our Hiring Process” section at the bottom of the job advert for a detail description of the stages involved in the role you are applying for.
If you are invited to interview you will receive an email with further instructions on how to join the call or find our office. Please see our Practical tips page for more information on how to prepare for an interview with us.
We will confirm the time zone the interview will take place in via a calendar invitation. Your email software will automatically adjust this for your time zone. If you are in any doubt, please contact your Recruiter ahead of your interview.
