SUPPLY Behaviour Support Assistant LOCATION Birmingham CONTRACT TYPE Full-time CONTRACT TERMS Long-term SALARY £410 to £425 per week REF 4hiht5u1 APPLY BY 02 APRIL 2026 JOB START ASAP JOB END ONGOING APPLY NOW ABC Teachers are seeking a skilled and dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to work within an SEN school in Birmingham, part of the Think Differently Education Trust (who we are proud to be working with as a Managed Service Partner) About the role A Behaviour Support Assistant plays an important role in promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils who may experience social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. They work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies, reinforce expectations, and help create a calm, safe learning environment. This may involve supporting pupils during lessons and less structured times, modelling positive interactions, and helping young people develop self-regulation skills so they are ready to learn. Alongside behaviour support, the role also includes key Teaching Assistant responsibilities. This can involve working one-to-one or with small groups, adapting learning activities, supporting pupils with additional needs, and helping teachers deliver personalised lessons. By combining academic support with consistent pastoral guidance, the Behaviour Support Assistant helps remove barriers to learning, build resilience and confidence, and ensure pupils are able to make meaningful progress during their time at the Academy. About the school James Brindley Academy is a specialist academy in Birmingham that provides education for children and young people who cannot attend mainstream school due to medical needs or other barriers. It operates across hospital settings and learning centres, offering a personalised and inclusive approach to help pupils continue their education. The Academy works closely with families, schools and healthcare professionals to ensure learning is tailored to each young person’s needs. Alongside academic progress, it places strong emphasis on wellbeing, resilience and supporting successful transitions back into mainstream education or future pathways. Requirements To be considered for the role of Behaviour Support Assistant you will: Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs. Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential. Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students. Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check. Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: At least two years of experience supporting students with special educational needs.
