Automation Technician

Automation Technician Location: Exeter, Devon Salary: £37,000 - £48,000 (including shift premium) Shift Pattern: Alternating shift pattern - Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm The Opportunity An exciting opportunity is available for Automation Technicians to join a growing manufacturing business with significant investment in automation and advanced manufacturing technologies. This is a development-focused role, offering tailored training and progression pathways aligned to individual strengths and career goals. Key Responsibilities Provide critical technical support to manufacturing operations to minimise downtime of key equipment Create, verify, and release robot programs for automated manufacturing cells Develop, verify, and release programs for other programmable manufacturing equipment Design and deliver tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing processes Produce and maintain documentation for automated equipment (SOPs, EMS) Support the introduction of new automation and advanced manufacturing equipment Assist senior engineers with capital expenditure justifications Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and process improvements Collaborate with manufacturing teams to monitor and improve OEE Manage program storage, data backups, and revision control for manufacturing systems Support the implementation of new manufacturing technologies Promote and support Environmental, Health & Safety activities Essential Requirements HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline Understanding of tooling, fixture design, and manufacturing processes Proficiency in CAD (experience with Siemens NX is advantageous) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Project) Sound judgement and decision-making ability Effective communication and teamwork skills Superb package available, including: Salary - £37,000 - £48,000 Healthcare Annual Bonus Enhanced pension and 28 days leave entitlement + excellent opportunity for further career growth #IND-HL-25 Butler Rose is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer.
