What does a Junior Retoucher do at WPP Production?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Retoucher who is looking for the next step in their career. They will have a passion for delivering exceptional, pixel-perfect retouching for print, large-format and high-visibility commercial campaigns.

This role is not hybrid – we are specifically looking for retouching specialists, not graphic designers who occasionally retouch.

You will collaborate with creative teams and art directors, supported by the senior retoucher, to bring campaigns to life for global clients. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of technical expertise, a refined eye for detail and a drive to deliver campaigns to the highest production standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support on briefs from internal and external clients, assisted by the senior retoucher
  • Deliver a consistently high quality of retouching that is on brand, supported by the senior retoucher, within the agreed timeframes
  • Creative and executional retouching and photography compositing assignments
  • Ensure accurate colour correction of imagery in line with client or creative requests
  • Interaction and exposure to AI tools such as Topaz and Magnific
  • Attend stakeholder meetings, ensuring the best possible outcome, depending on the request
  • Be responsible for highlighting any retouching/colour issues
  • Ensure the imagery is correct to the digital guidelines (naming/colour space/dimensions, )
  • Retouch assets for print, large format and digital deliverables, while ensuring precision and consistency
  • Responsible for filing best practice (server and SharePoint ownership)

  • Working as part of a team delivering high-end image retouching for beauty, fashion, product and commercial campaigns.
  • Deliver colour accuracy, skin tone refinement, texture control and composition balance across all outputs
  • Creating files for both RGB and CMYK workflows
  • Escalate any issues to the senior retoucher (your line manager)
  • Appreciation, adherence and enforcement of WPP Production key policies

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience working as part of a high-end image retouching team and compositing in creative and print studios within the industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator and all image retouching practices, including generative AI
  • Have a background in accurate colour correction using physical and digital swatches
  • Experience of creating and adapting imagery for different colour profiles
  • Understand basic photography and perspective
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities, multitask and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of work
  • A 'can do' attitude and calmness under pressure
  • Be a detail-oriented, collaborative team-player
  • Be proactive in keeping skills up to date and drive self-improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback and communicate challenges accordingly
  • Fluent spoken and written English is essential
