Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Acute Healthcare Estate
Role Overview
Multi Skilled Engineer with strong electrical bias required to support maintenance and repair works across a large NHS hospital estate. Role includes additional responsibility for basic mechanical and fabric maintenance tasks as part of a multi-discipline estates team.
Working within a healthcare environment, delivering planned and reactive maintenance across clinical and non-clinical buildings, ensuring full compliance with operational KPIs and statutory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical systems and infrastructure
- Fault finding and corrective works on electrical services
- Lighting systems, sockets, and general electrical distribution systems
- RCD testing and electrical safety checks
- Theatre shutdown procedures (where applicable)
Multi-Skilled Duties
- Support basic mechanical plant maintenance and repairs
- Carry out fabric/building maintenance tasks as required
- Assist with breakdown response across all building services disciplines
Operational Delivery
- Work across multiple NHS sites including acute, mental health, and retained estate
- Carry out unsupervised maintenance tasks where competent
- Escalate defects and safety issues to supervisory staff
- Ensure all works meet contractual KPIs and compliance standards
Working Environment
- NHS healthcare estate (acute hospital + satellite units)
- Clinical environment requiring strong compliance awareness
- Collaborative estates and facilities management team
Qualifications & Requirements
- Recognised Electrical Installation Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- One of the following:
- C&G Part 1 & 2 Electrical
- C&G 2365 / 2330 Level 2 & 3
- EAL Level 1–3 Electrical Installation
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (EAL or C&G 2357)
- AM2 / JIB Gold Card Approved Electrician
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382-18)
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass DBS Standard check
