About the Role
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an experienced engineer to join the Vehicle Control Integration Team of the Vehicle Control Software Department, which develops innovative features to enhance dynamics, controllability, and efficiency of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles for the North American (NA) market
The Team:
The Vehicle Control Integration Team is responsible for spearheading new vehicle drive and motion control technology concepts for future generation vehicles for the NA market, expanding Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) vehicle control capabilities in coordination with the R&D Headquarters, developing prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstrations to various global teams within HMG for new Vehicle Control Software functions targeted for the NA market, developing and maintaining simulation environments that enable co-simulation of algorithms and virtual calibration optimization, supporting the development and verification of software updates for the NA market, utilizing ETAS INCA for ECU reprogramming and proprietary Hyundai diagnostic tools to investigate system faults, and executing the deployment of software packages and ECU flashing across the prototype and pre-production fleet vehicles
What You Will Do:
Lead the development and prototyping of new vehicle control software algorithms for the NA market
Craft control concepts using advanced technologies and resources, such as AI, machine learning, and high-resolution navigation data
Improve Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis production controls by building, testing, and refining algorithms
Use simulation and model-based development tools such as MATLAB/Simulink
Write or auto-generate C code for integrating, compiling, flashing, and testing vehicle control software purposes
Utilize rapid control prototyping methodologies to verify algorithm concepts
Perform CAN/LIN/automotive Ethernet traffic recording and analysis using Vector (i.e., CANalyzer/CANoe) or ETAS tools to root-cause issues
Mentor junior engineers on best practices and facilitate on-the-job learning
Attend industry conferences and publish technical papers
Collaborate with tech companies and universities concerning vehicle control solutions
Collaborate with R&D Headquarters in South Korea to maintain global relationships
What You Will Bring to the Role:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline
3+ years of industry experience developing and deploying embedded control software algorithms
Knowledge of Model-Based Design in MATLAB/Simulink
Strong background in auto-code generation using Simulink
Hands-on vehicle experience with data acquisition and analysis tools, such as ETAS INCA, Vehicle SPY, Vector, etc.
Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Sound problem-solving skills
Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in aerospace engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline
Proven track record in developing and deploying control algorithms in embedded control applications in the automotive industry
Sound understanding of control theory and system dynamics
Familiarity with electric vehicle systems and hybrid/conventional powertrains
Experience with MCU application software architectures, including AUTOSAR
