Responsible Individual - Children Home

Responsible Individual (RI) – Children’s Residential Home (EBD) Location: Barnet, North West London (NW9) Rate: Circa £500 per day Contract: Part-Time (Urgent Requirement) We are working on behalf of a new and developing children’s residential provider who urgently require an experienced Responsible Individual (RI) to support the registration and launch of their first children’s home. The service is a 2-bed EBD home based in Barnet (NW9). A Registered Manager has been in post since March 2025, however the provider was unfortunately let down by their previous RI, resulting in delays to Ofsted registration. They are now seeking a highly capable RI who can step in quickly, stabilise the process, and guide the service through to successful registration. This role is critical and requires proven experience of setting up new children’s homes that have gone on to achieve Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes. THE OPPORTUNITY This is a high-impact assignment with the potential for ongoing involvement post-registration. Phase one will focus on correcting and strengthening the foundations of the service to meet Ofsted expectations. Key responsibilities will include: Reviewing, rewriting and strengthening policies and procedures Updating and finalising the Statement of Purpose Resubmitting and managing the Ofsted registration application Providing governance, oversight and challenge to ensure compliance Supporting and advising the Registered Manager and Directors Ensuring robust leadership, safeguarding and quality frameworks are in place ABOUT YOU We are keen to speak with Responsible Individuals who can demonstrate: Extensive experience as an RI within children’s residential care A track record of successfully registering new homes with Ofsted Evidence of services achieving Good or Outstanding inspection outcomes Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted frameworks The confidence to step into a service that needs immediate direction and clarity A supportive but firm approach to leadership and compliance ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The Directors’ background is in social housing, and this is their first children’s home They are fully committed to doing things correctly and welcome expert challenge This is an urgent hire, with immediate availability required If you are an experienced Responsible Individual available for an interim assignment and confident in rescuing and completing registrations, we would be keen to speak with you promptly.
