About the Role
Infrastructure & Security Architect
This is a pivotal architecture role at the intersection of infrastructure and security, shaping how enterprise platforms are designed, protected, and scaled. You will lead the definition of secure-by-design principles across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments, ensuring systems are resilient, compliant, and aligned to business growth.
You'll act as the bridge between security strategy and infrastructure delivery, influencing technical direction while remaining close enough to the detail to guide design decisions that genuinely work in practice.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
Design end-to-end infrastructure and security architectures across hybrid environments
Embed security-by-design principles into all infrastructure solutions
Translate business requirements into scalable, future-proof technical designs
Security Architecture
Define and implement security controls across networks, identity, endpoints, applications, and data
Own strategies for IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and key management
Lead threat modelling, risk assessments, and security design reviews
Infrastructure & Cloud
Architect highly available, scalable infrastructure across compute, storage, and networking
Lead cloud architecture with a strong focus on security (Azure-led, multi-cloud beneficial)
Define disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies
Governance & Compliance
Align architecture with recognised security frameworks (ISO, NIST, Cyber Essentials)
Support audits, regulatory requirements, and compliance initiatives
Establish and maintain architectural governance, standards, and best practices
Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
Strong background in infrastructure and security architecture or engineering
Deep understanding of networking, compute, storage, and virtualisation
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure essential, AWS beneficial)
Expertise in identity and access management (SSO, MFA, IAM)
Knowledge of network security (firewalls, WAF, VPN, Zero Trust)
Experience integrating monitoring, logging, and incident response
Proven track record designing secure enterprise or cloud-based platforms
Architecture Capability
Familiarity with TOGAF or similar frameworks
Strong systems thinking and end-to-end design capability
Risk-based decision making
Ability to produce clear architectural documentation and diagrams
Skilled at translating business needs into technical solutions
This is an opportunity to define architecture rather than inherit it. You'll shape secure, scalable platforms from the ground up, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on influence, and leaving a clear architectural fingerprint across the organisation's technology landscape.
