About the Role
Purpose
Our mission is to make the world better by making welding understandable. We design and execute customer support projects, demonstrations, and equipment/consumable development and evaluations. Efforts will focus on developing and implementing solutions with existing equipment and consumables or working with customers and internal teams on next-generation solutions. Internally AE is the Voice of the Customer, externally we are the Welding Experts.
Description (Duties & Responsibilities)
Interface with customers, segment teams, and Technical Sales Reps to understand and identify industry challenges and solution gaps
Manage Applied R&D projects through customer support projects, solution development, demonstrations, and evaluations
Troubleshoot complex welding application problems
Assess and advise on productivity improvement opportunities for customers
Demonstrate welding solutions and speak to the value of implementation
Learn and support Lincoln Electric welding product lines as SME
Act as the voice of the customer for MRD and CRD in the product development process
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, machine and consumable R&D, product management to develop and deliver welding solutions
Grow and maintain expertise in AWS and AISC industry trends
Basic Requirements
Level II
Engineering Degree with 2-5 Years of Relevant Experience
Has working knowledge and experience in own discipline, continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers
Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments
Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems
Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
Level III
Engineering Degree with 5-8 Years of Relevant Experience
Advanced welding and process knowledge
Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines
May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities - acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions
Works independently, receives minimal guidance
Level IV
Vocational Training with 8+ Years of Experience or GED Equivalent with 10+ years in related field
AWS CWI Preferred
Advanced welding capabilities and process knowledge
Has advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience
Proposes improvements to processes
May act as a lead, coordinating and facilitating the work of others but is not a supervisor
Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
Spends a majority of working time performing the same work processes and activities as employees on team
