About the Role
As People Advisor within our rapidly expanding organisation, you will provide effective support, guidance and advice to managers and employees on a wide variety of HR issues including employee relations, policy and process, the People HR system and the delivery of key projects.
The Housing Ombudsman Service provides independent, impartial and fair dispute resolution services for nearly 5 million households in England. Through resolving disputes effectively and promoting positive change across the social housing sector, we improve residents’ lives and landlords’ services.
As People Advisor, you’ll be part of a supportive People team and have a wide-ranging remit including:
advising and coaching managers on the application and interpretation of People policies and procedures;
as part of a rota, ensuring the People Inbox is covered and employees receive timely and accurate responses to their enquiries;
assisting with developing and implementing a range of People policies and guidance, contributing to the development and delivery of learning and management development sessions; and
providing high-quality advice and guidance to managers to facilitate the early resolution of difficult and/or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed and ensuring more complex cases are referred to the People Business Partners and the People Manager.
For this key role, you must be qualified to CIPD Level 5 (or working towards it) with HR / People team experience within a not-for-profit organisation, such as a local authority, housing association or charity. Your track record will include providing advice to employees and managers on People policies and processes, including contracts of employment, maternity, paternity, flexible working, disciplinary and grievance.
It’s an exciting time to join us and to contribute your skills to the evolution of our ambitious, influential and growing organisation.
