About the Role

<strong>Job Requirements </strong><br><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Join a multifaceted team that covers new baby care in a growing obstetrics program. </span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) will be trained to cover all aspects of the nursery team, including inpatient care and home call.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">The part-time position is a 1040 hour part time equivalent to four (4) 10-hour per two week period.</span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Perform routine and expanded job descriptions as listed in the provider's collaboration agreement on file with the Maryland Board of Physicians or Maryland Board of Nursing. </span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">In collaboration with the physician care team, the APP will:</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services to critically ill patients. </span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Obtain medical histories, examine patients, daily rounds, orders and interprets tests, makes initial diagnoses, and orders treatments. </span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Communicate effectively with attending physicians, other medical teams, team members, and patients and their families.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Administer therapeutic procedures and advanced procedures as noted in the Delineation of Privileges, such as Perform circumcisions</span><strong style="color: black;">. </strong></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Educate, counsel, and address patient’s parents on pertinent issues. </span></p><p><s>·      </s><span style="color: black;">Essential Skills include:</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters </span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Ability to handle and triage multiple priorities, work independently, take initiative in achieving expected results, and handle confidential information.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Demonstrate competence and skill in required tasks and procedures.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Demonstrate skills in making effective decisions, quality improvement activities, problem solving, crisis management, organizing work and meeting deadlines, attention to detail and follow through, resource management, ability to work successfully with diverse types of individuals including management, clinical staff, and the public.</span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Meets all team and organizational deadlines for task requests, project/ initiative submissions, evaluations, and compliance items.</span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Performs according to Maryland Board of Physician or Maryland Board of Nursing standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.</span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Facilitates excellence in quality assurance and the delivery of patient care as part of our High Reliability Organization.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Provides optimal quality of patient care while following safety guidelines,</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Contributes to cohesive group relations; uses open communication to resolve problems in and between departments.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Demonstrate commitment to professional department and organizational core values</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Follows Capital Region Health’s High Reliability Organization principles of patient safety, zero harm, professionalism, and mutual respect for patients, families, and coworkers. </span></p><p>o  Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.</p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Demonstrate effective verbal and written interpersonal skills.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Implements policies, procedures, and standards consistently in the performance of assigned duties.</span></p><p>o  Develop effective working relationships and maintain good communication with other team members.</p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Participates in APP Council meetings, service line specific and general APP meetings and events, and organizational meetings and events.</span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Engages in leadership activities including, but not limited to, APP representation on organizational committees, training, education, mentorship of other APPs and other learners.</span></p><p>·      <span style="color: black;">Participates in APP educational and other learning opportunities as they arise.</span></p><p><s>·      </s><span style="color: black;">Demonstrates competence and skill in required tasks and procedures.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in required subspecialty. </span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Completes at least 50 hours of Category I CME every two years. </span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Performs according to Maryland Board of Physician or Board of Nursing standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.</span></p><p>o  <span style="color: black;">Maintains a procedure complication rate less than the national average.</span></p><br><br><strong>Work Experience </strong><br><p> </p><p><span style="color: black;">Minimum Qualifications:</span></p><br/><ul><li><span style="color: black;">PAs: Bachelor’s degree, graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program, and certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician’s Assistants are required. Candidates must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.</span></li><li><span style="color: black;">NPs: Bachelor’s degree, RN experience, and completion of Acute Nurse Practitioner degree. Candidates must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Nursing.</span></li><li><span style="color: black;">One year of nursery or pediatric experience is preferred.</span></li><li><span style="color: black;">Credentialing must be obtained from UM Capital Region Health’s Medical Staff Office and maintenance of BLS certification is required.
