Commercial Estimating Manager (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid (UK-based – office in Cambridge occasionally, home & site travel)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: up to 65k basic + Bonus + £4.5k car allowance

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Estimating Manager to join a growing and dynamic organisation. This role is key to driving business growth, winning new contracts, and delivering high-quality, competitive tenders.

You will lead a team of estimators while working closely with commercial, bid, and business development teams to ensure all pricing activities are accurate, strategic, and aligned with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the estimating function to support new business growth
  • Oversee pricing strategy, tender submissions, and bid accuracy
  • Collaborate with bid, sales, finance, and operational teams
  • Ensure all tenders are fully costed, compliant, and competitive
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of estimators
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to support bid conversion
  • Analyse successful and unsuccessful bids to improve performance
  • Develop and standardise pricing processes and policies
  • Support revenue accuracy and contract mobilisation processes
  • Provide insights, reporting, and trend analysis on pricing performance
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation across estimating practices

About You

We are looking for a commercially driven professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in estimating and tendering.

  • Experience in commercial estimating, bid management, or pricing strategy
  • Strong leadership and team management capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to deliver accurate, compliant, and competitive tenders
  • Highly organised with strong time management skills
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Results-driven with a proactive approach
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
