We are working with a well-established and growing business seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join their engineering team. This role is conveniently located within easy commuting distance of Hull, Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby, making it an excellent opportunity for a skilled Controls Engineer across the region. The Role As a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and supporting automated production systems. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the site. Key Responsibilities Maintain and support automated production equipment including PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and control panels. Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system faults to minimise disruption. Modify and enhance PLC and HMI programmes to improve performance and reliability. Support commissioning of new machinery and control systems. Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to identify root causes of issues. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems. Assist with control system upgrades and automation projects. Ensure compliance with UK electrical standards and safety regulations. Maintain accurate documentation including schematics and maintenance records. Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues on site.   Skills & Experience Essential: HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Control Engineering Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and variable speed drives Proven electrical fault-finding skills on automated machinery. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Good understanding of industrial safety standards Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset Desirable: Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi PLCs Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus) Experience with SCADA systems 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Exposure to robotics or advanced automation About You Proactive and solutions-driven Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety. Confident communicator and team player Able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment. Flexible to support production when required.
