SEN Teaching Assistant Birmingham

About the role:

A specialist autism school in Birmingham is recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting after May half term 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with autism and communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students with autism in both classroom and sensory settings
• Assist with structured learning activities and routines
• Promote communication and social interaction skills
• Work alongside therapists and teaching staff=
• Support students during break times and school activities
• Encourage independence and emotional wellbeing

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with autism or special educational needs
• Understanding of sensory and communication needs
• Positive, patient, and adaptable attitude
• Ability to follow individual education and behaviour plans
• Strong teamwork and organisational skills
• Relevant safeguarding training is beneficial
