About the Role

Our large and well established client is building up their team and searching for Data Center Technicians in Virgina.  Fiber Optic / Data Center Technician Key Responsibilities Install, splice, and terminate different types of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multi-mode, ribbon, and stranded fiber. Troubleshoot and resolve basic connectivity and technical issues in the field. Read and follow construction prints, schematics, test results, and project documentation. Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on fiber splicing and testing equipment. Conduct fiber testing to confirm signal quality and network performance. Complete fiber modifications and repairs in aerial, underground, buried, and indoor environments. Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of telecommunications, fiber optics, or related technical experience. Experience using fusion splicers and fiber testing equipment from manufacturers such as EXFO, Sumitomo, Fitel, Fujikura, or similar. Ability to understand blueprints, project specifications, and quality documentation. Knowledge of telecom cabling types and environments, including CAT3, CAT5, fiber optic, riser, plenum, and PVC cable applications. Familiarity with standard telecommunications color coding practices. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members. Comfortable working at heights using ladders. Able to work safely in confined spaces when required.
