Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – KS2

Full-Time | September 2026 Start

We are currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work across Key Stage 2 within a welcoming and supportive primary school in Ferryhill.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident HLTA who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and development across KS2 and can deliver high-quality support both within the classroom and through leading lessons when required.

The Role

  • Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 2
  • Delivering planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Working with small groups and individual pupils to raise attainment
  • Supporting pupils with a range of learning abilities and additional needs
  • Assisting with planning, preparation, and classroom organisation
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Have previous experience working within KS2
  • Be confident leading whole-class learning
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills
  • Have strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Be flexible, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil progress
