About the Role

Lead with Purpose: Social Performance & Resettlement Manager

Location: Bamako, Mali (Hybrid - 3 Office days a week)

Are you a social performance expert who thrives at the intersection of community advocacy and industrial development? We are representing a leading environmental and social consultancy dedicated to balancing economic growth with positive human outcomes.

We are seeking a high-impact Social Performance and Resettlement Manager to lead a specialist Social Sciences team across West Africa. If you are a strategic leader who can navigate complex socio-economic landscapes while driving business success, this is your next career milestone.

The Role:

This is a senior leadership position where you will own the technical and financial performance of the Social Sciences department. You will be the bridge between major industrial projects and the sustainable development of local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the development strategy for the Social Sciences and Resettlement team.
  • Project Excellence: Oversee complex social studies, including Socio-economic Impact Assessments and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs).
  • Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of specialists across multiple regions.
  • Business Growth: Identify new commercial opportunities, manage key client accounts, and oversee high-value tender submissions.
  • Technical Authority: Prepare and review critical reports for clients and regulatory authorities, ensuring international best practices are met.

What We're Looking For

We need a bilingual leader who can communicate effectively across borders and cultures.

  • Linguistic Skills: Fluency in French is essential for this role. Given the international nature of our clients, proficiency in English is highly preferred to manage global stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience: At least 8 years in a relevant field (ideally consultancy), with a minimum of 5 years specifically within the natural resources sector (mining, energy, or infrastructure).
  • Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), local economic development, and ESIA processes.
  • Education: A Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant social science or environmental discipline.
  • Mobility: A valid driving licence and a willingness to participate in fieldwork, often in challenging or remote environments.

Why Join This Team?

  • Impact: Work for a company founded on ethical principles that delivers practical, responsible solutions.
  • Growth: Lead and structure a growing department within a respected global consultancy.
  • Challenge: Manage diverse projects across the full lifecycle, from initial assessment to final audit.
