A well-regarded and supportive primary school in Brighton is seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a long-term supply basis. About the Role
This is a long-term supply position, offering consistency and the chance to take on a varied and rewarding role within the school.
As an HLTA, you will support teaching and learning across the school, including leading whole-class sessions in the absence of the teacher, delivering interventions, and working closely with staff to raise pupil attainment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver pre-planned lessons and lead whole-class teaching when required
Support pupils’ learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
Lead small group interventions to support progress in core subjects
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment where required
Promote positive behaviour management in line with school policies
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience – essential
Previous experience working within a UK primary school
Confident leading a class and delivering lessons independently
Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable
Experience across multiple key stages
Experience supporting pupils with SEND
Experience delivering targeted interventions (e.g., phonics, maths)
