Showing 1 Highways Inspector jobs in Plaistow Job Description 4 months contract with a local authority Job Purpose The Highways Inspector is responsible for supporting the Highways team by delivering inspection, monitoring and public liaison services across the borough’s highway network.The role ensures that highway assets are maintained to a safe and compliant standard by identifying defects, raising appropriate works orders, and liaising with contractors and utility providers to ensure timely and effective repairs.Key Duties/Accountabilities Carry out routine visual inspections across the highway network to identify defects and safety issues.Record and report defects accurately in line with council procedures.Raise works orders with contractors and issue defect notices to utility companies to ensure repairs are actioned.Monitor the progress of repair works and ensure completion within agreed timescales.Follow up on outstanding issues to ensure all works are completed to the required standards.Essential Experience Required Experience working within highways, construction, maintenance or a similar field‑based inspection role.Experience of identifying defects and managing works orders or service requests.Experience dealing with customer enquiries or public‑facing interactions.Essential Qualifications Required Basic understanding of highway maintenance and asset inspection.Knowledge of health and safety practices within a field‑based environment.Familiarity with using IT systems to record inspections and update information.Additional information to note Working hours: 7.5 hours per dayChurchill Court, 2 Westmoreland Road, Bromley, Kent, BR1 1AS , United KingdomWork pattern - The job is mainly remote, working out in their assigned areas, occasional meetings in office.We work on bi-weekly schedule.The role closes on 8th May 2026, apply ASAP.
