The Association Accounting Supervisor is responsible for leading the Association Accountants (“Accountant”) that produce the financial statements monthly. This position will be the direct supervisor for the Assocition accountant positions and will be responsible for the work product that the accountant team delivers.
The Association Accountant Supervisor also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service as it relates to this function. This includes working interdepartmentally, as well as, with our external customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Be able to lead/coach a team of accountants to achieve the goals of producing accurate and timely financial statements.
- Completion of month end financial reporting packages for assigned associations based on Castle’s internal monthly schedule.
- Review financials before submitting to Boards and ensuring financials are materially correct.
- Coach and mentor accountants to ensure that the team fosters a quality-oriented mindset
- Provide solutions to Director of Financial Reporting (“Director”) for escalated issues relating to departmental functions.
- Develop expertise in department functions and software, including new software implementation as needed.
- Work with Director on meeting Company goals and implementing new initiatives within established deadlines.
- Be available for occasional on-site visits to associations to resolve issues with financial reporting package.
- Develop working relationships with on-site teams, and working knowledge of the association to ensure that any material reporting issues are corrected before financials are released to the board.
- Act as a liaison to the Treasurer, and the Board, for financial statements and accounting issues, and attend meetings as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly manage Association Accountants
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years as an Association Accountant Supervisor or similar role.
- Previous management experience or experience coaching a team of professionals
- Prior property management accounting experience or fund accounting experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of financial statements.
- Ability to effectively communicate accounting concepts and issues to non-accountant board members.
