About the Role
Power BI Data Modeller (Contract - Outside IR35) Hybrid – Edinburgh (2 days onsite) | £500 - £550 per day Role Overview This is a proper modelling role – not just building reports. You will take ownership of an existing Power BI estate, optimise performance, and lead a full modernisation programme while supporting BAU. You will review the semantic model end-to-end (DAX, performance, storage, security), improve scalability, and drive key upgrades across tooling, governance, and data sources (including Snowflake migration). Essential Skills Deep Power BI semantic modelling expertise (not just reporting) Strong DAX, VertiPaq optimisation, and performance tuning Experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, SSMS (XMLA) Power BI Enterprise Gateway setup and management Git / CI/CD in Power BI or Fabric environments Experience modernising / migrating existing BI estates Strong understanding of dimensional modelling (Kimball) Bonus Points .pbip + Git-based workflows RLS / OLS design Snowflake integration Microsoft Fabric Composite models / aggregations This is a solid contract opportunity for an Edinburgh based product company.
