About the Role

We are looking for dedicated and empathetic in-person tutors to support secondary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Tutors will be responsible for delivering Maths and English sessions while providing personalised support to pupils who may have experienced significant gaps in their education. Our pupils come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and many need a calm, patient, and understanding approach to help rebuild their confidence and re-engage with learning. This role is ideal for tutors who are adaptable, compassionate, and committed to supporting young people in making meaningful progress. Locations Tutoring will be delivered in person across Didcot, Banbury, and Bicester. Pay £25–£30 per hour, depending on experience and the requirements of the role. The ideal tutor will: Have previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational or related environment (such as tutoring, teaching, SEN support, teaching assistant roles, or youth work) Be confident delivering secondary-level Maths and English Have experience working with SEN pupils, or a strong interest in supporting pupils with SEN Be patient, reliable, and able to adapt sessions to meet individual needs Feel comfortable supporting pupils from a wide range of social and educational backgrounds Hours & Commitment A minimum availability of 10 hours per week is required Tutors looking for a fuller timetable would typically work with 2–3 pupils Consistency and professionalism are essential Key Responsibilities Tutors will be expected to: Deliver structured, engaging, and personalised Maths and English sessions in person Support pupils with learning gaps and low confidence Accurately record attendance and complete a lesson summary after each day Develop positive working relationships with pupils and maintain clear communication If you have experience in education and are passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people, we would be delighted to hear from you.
