About the Role

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to work on the HS2 project at Chipping Warden, supporting the construction of a major portal building. The role involves setting out, quality control, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and in compliance with HS2 standards and specifications. Key Responsibilities Set out works accurately in accordance with drawings, specifications, and HS2 requirements Manage day-to-day engineering activities on site for the portal building works Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times Liaise with the design team, site management, subcontractors, and HS2 representatives Produce and maintain setting-out records, as-built drawings, and survey data Check drawings, specifications, and RAMS for accuracy and buildability Support temporary works coordination and implementation where required Carry out quality inspections and ensure works meet ITP and QA requirements Assist in resolving technical issues and engineering queries on site Monitor progress against programme and report any delays or risks Ensure materials and workmanship comply with project specifications Requirements & Qualifications HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Proven experience as a Site Engineer on major civil infrastructure projects Experience working on concrete structures and portal or structural buildings Familiarity with HS2 standards, Network Rail, or other major infrastructure frameworks (preferred) Strong setting-out skills using GPS, total station, and traditional surveying equipment Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications CSCS card (relevant level) SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred) Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and coordination abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet programme deadlines Proactive approach to health and safety Competent in Microsoft Office and basic engineering software
