About the Role

<strong>Job Requirements </strong><br><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Main Function</u>:</strong>  Receives, stores, issues, distributes, ships and documents the movement of medical supplies throughout the Hospital. Distributes clean linen to nursing units and other patient care areas, collects soiled linen and prepares it for shipment to the outside laundry. Sorts incoming external and interoffice mail and prepares outgoing mail for pickup. Utilizes both manual and computer record keeping systems to document transactions related to these functions in accordance with Hospital policy and regulatory agency guidelines.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Duties and Responsibilities</u>:</strong></p><ol><li style="text-align: justify;">Physically inspects integrity of incoming supplies and equipment, documents as appropriate, and places supplies in designated central storage areas in Stores or Central Sterile Distribution. </li><li style="text-align: justify;">Dispenses supplies and/or equipment to designated areas based on pre-determined stock levels (par levels). Delivers stock and non-stock supplies and equipment items to user areas. Places supplies in proper stock locations in accordance with proper storage practices. Inspects, restocks, and documents the replenishment of specialty carts.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Records all transactions accurately in the materials management information system. Prints, distributes, collects, reviews and enters patient charges into the patient charge system.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Packages, documents, and ships outgoing supplies and equipment.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Perform physical inventory and cycle counts on a scheduled frequency.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Distributes clean linen to patient care areas based on pre-established par levels or department needs, as approved by management. Collects soiled linen from the chute rooms and other designated areas. Receives and handles special linen items.</li><li style="text-align: justify;">Weighs incoming clean and outgoing soiled linen at the time of transport in to/out of the Hospital to/from the commercial laundry. </li><li style="text-align: justify;">Sorts incoming external and interoffice mail and parcels by department. Prepares outgoing mail for pickup by carrier, including special categories of mail (e.g. certified mail). </li><li style="text-align: justify;">Stamps outgoing mail with proper postage. Monitors postage meter levels and notifies management when replenishment is necessary.  </li><li style="text-align: justify;">Perform other materials-related duties as assigned.</li></ol><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><br/><br><br><strong>Work Experience </strong><br><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Education</u></strong>: High School graduate or equivalent</p><p style="text-align: justify;">     </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Experience</u>: </strong>Materials handling experience desired, but<strong> </strong>willing to train, past customer service experience is a plus.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><u> </u></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Contacts</u>: </strong>Department employees, other Hospital staff.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><u> </u></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Physical Demands</u>: </strong>Ability to lift at least 25 lbs, constant sitting, standing, walking, lifting, pushing and pulling are inherent for the position.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><u> </u></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Working Conditions</u></strong><u>:</u>  Work performed in well-lit and ventilated work space.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong> </strong></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><u>Hazards</u></strong>: Exposure to potential injuries related to lifting, reaching, bending, etc. and other incidents typically associated with working in a supplies handling environment.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"> </p><br/><br><br>
