About the Role

Production Fiber Splicer –Data Center Position Summary The Production Fiber Splicer is responsible for performing high-volume fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation within data center and mission-critical network environments. This role supports large-scale fiber infrastructure deployments, including backbone, distribution, and interconnect projects. The ideal candidate has experience with ribbon fiber, mass fusion splicing, MPO/MTP connectivity, and maintaining production schedules in fast-paced construction environments. Key Responsibilities Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables, including ribbon and loose tube fiber. Complete large-scale fiber splicing projects supporting data center builds, expansions, and network upgrades. Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cabling systems. Conduct mass fusion ribbon splicing and high-count fiber cable terminations. Perform OTDR, insertion loss, continuity, and power meter testing. Interpret construction drawings, splice matrices, fiber allocation plans, and network schematics. Document splice records, test results, and as-built information accurately. Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber infrastructure to minimize downtime. Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting project schedules and deadlines. Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and network engineers to ensure successful project completion. Follow all customer, company, and data center safety requirements. Maintain splicing equipment, testing tools, and inventory of consumables. Required Qualifications 3+ years of fiber optic splicing experience, preferably in data center, telecommunications, or large enterprise environments. Proficiency with fusion splicing equipment and fiber testing instruments. Experience with high-count fiber cables, ribbon fiber, and MPO/MTP connectivity. Ability to read and interpret fiber network diagrams, construction prints, and splice documentation. Strong understanding of fiber optic standards, testing procedures, and industry best practices. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center environments. Knowledge of structured cabling systems and data center infrastructure. Certifications such as CFOT, FOA, BICSI, or manufacturer-specific fiber certifications. Experience with large-scale production splicing programs involving thousands of fiber terminations. Familiarity with quality assurance and acceptance testing procedures for mission-critical networks. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on ladders, in overhead cable pathways, and in confined spaces. Ability to distinguish fiber color codes and perform precision work requiring manual dexterity. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Success Factors Consistently delivers high-quality splice work with minimal rework. Maintains production goals on large-scale fiber deployment projects. Demonstrates strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Works effectively in fast-paced data center construction environments while maintaining safety and quality standards.
