We are seeking a talented CAD Technician</strong> to join our Engineering Department and play a key role in supporting the design and delivery of major civil engineering works. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and project teams, transforming concepts into high-quality technical drawings and models that contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects.</p>

About the Role</h3>

As a CAD Technician, you will produce detailed drawings and models to support our design engineers and site operations teams. Working across a variety of projects, you'll ensure all outputs are accurate, compliant and delivered to the highest standards.</p>

You'll collaborate closely with engineers, project teams and site personnel, providing technical support while contributing to the continuous improvement of our engineering capability.</p>

Key Responsibilities</h3>

• Produce accurate, detailed technical drawings and models from information supplied by design engineers and operational teams.</li>
• Prepare As-Built drawings using site records and marked-up drawings.</li>
• Utilise CAD software including AutoCAD LT, AutoTrack and SketchUp to create high-quality deliverables.</li>
• Ensure all drawings comply with VolkerStevin Engineering CAD standards and quality requirements.</li>
• Support design engineers and project teams by providing technical drafting expertise.</li>
• Carry out informal drawing reviews to promote quality, consistency and best practice.</li>
• Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to departmental development goals.</li>
• Assist with the identification and closure of design-related non-conformances.</li>
• Proactively manage workload, monitor progress against agreed deadlines and communicate potential risks.</li>
• Participate in resource planning and departmental meetings.</li>
• Build strong relationships with colleagues, project teams and key stakeholders.</li>
• Attend site visits and project meetings to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.</li> </ul>

  About You</h3>

  We're looking for a proactive and detail-focused individual who enjoys working within a collaborative engineering environment.</p>

  You will ideally have:</p>

  • Experience producing CAD drawings and models within a civil engineering, construction or infrastructure environment.</li>
  • Demonstrable experience independently producing timber structure, steelwork and reinforced concrete detailing</strong>.</li>
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD LT</strong>.</li>
  • Experience of 3D modelling using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar software</strong> would be advantageous.</li>
  • A basic understanding of structural stability and engineering design principles</strong>.</li>
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.</li>
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.</li>
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.</li>
  • A positive, team-focused approach and a willingness to share knowledge with others.</li> </ul>

    About you</h2>
    • Relevant CAD software experience </li>
    • EngTech or working towards EngTech status with the ICE </li>
    • Construction industry experience preferred </li>
    • Highly IT literate including use of CAD software- 
      (AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Autotrack and SketchUp), 
      Microsoft Office, MS Teams and CDE </li>
    • Knowledge and experience of technical standards 
      relating to draughting </li>
    • Basic knowledge of civil engineering construction 
      techniques</li> </ul>
