The IT Disaster Recovery Program Manager is a senior-level role responsible for developing, governing, and executing enterprise disaster recovery strategies to ensure the resilience and recoverability of critical IT services. This position oversees the organization’s disaster recovery framework, collaborating with various technology and business units to establish recovery objectives, conduct testing, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. The role also involves managing recovery documentation, leading remediation efforts, and providing executive reporting on disaster recovery posture and risks.
Responsibilities
Own and govern the enterprise IT disaster recovery framework, ensuring alignment with Business Continuity Planning (BCP), regulatory standards such as FFIEC and GLBA, and internal risk policies.
Establish and maintain disaster recovery standards, recovery tiers, and minimum RTO/RPO requirements across infrastructure and application portfolios.
Lead and coordinate comprehensive disaster recovery testing, including technical failover tests, tabletop exercises, and recovery simulations; document outcomes and track remediation actions.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Application, Cybersecurity, and Business Continuity teams to perform recoverability assessments, business impact analyses (BIAs), and risk evaluations.
Drive prioritization and execution of remediation initiatives to address recoverability gaps and enhance recovery readiness.
Provide executive-level reports on disaster recovery status, testing results, material risks, and unresolved issues.
Serve as the primary coordinator during actual recovery incidents, supporting execution, escalation, and leadership communication.
Maintain and update disaster recovery documentation, including runbooks, contact lists, and escalation procedures.
Act as the subject matter expert during audits, regulatory examinations, and governance forums related to disaster recovery.
Support ongoing compliance efforts and promote best practices in technology resilience and disaster recovery management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in IT disaster recovery, business continuity, infrastructure operations, or enterprise technology risk management.
Strong knowledge of on-premises and cloud infrastructure, backup and replication technologies, and cybersecurity principles.
Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and driving remediation outcomes in complex, dynamic environments.
Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance related to disaster recovery and business continuity.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical risks into business impact.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
Publishing Pay Range: $70.00 – $75.00
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
