The Role

The Hospital is a Level 3 facility currently offering 70 inpatient beds, with plans for expansion. It provides a wide range of general and specialist services, including:

• Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Paediatrics, High Dependency and Coronary Care, and Palliative Care
• Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Services, Allied Health, and Community Outreach

A new Emergency Department opened in 2020, enhancing 24/7 acute care delivery.

As a Consultant Physician, you will provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient care to the region, supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team. This role offers excellent professional variety, including clinical leadership, teaching, and outreach opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing clinical leadership and supervision to trainees, residents, and medical students.
• Delivering inpatient and outpatient general medicine services and contributing to the 24/7 on-call roster.
• Supporting the Hospital in the Home (HITH) service and contributing to the hospital’s integrated care pathways.
• Participating in quality improvement, safety, and clinical governance initiatives.
• Engaging in teaching, research, and continuous professional development.

Requirements

• Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent overseas specialist qualification (CCT UK, CSCST -Ireland, ABIM  - USA, RCPSC – Canada, Vocational Registration  - NZ)
• Be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
