About the Role

DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY ROYAL INFIRMARY Vacancy: 1 x Clinical Fellow Foundation Year 1 in Frailty Medicine (24.8 hours) Salary: FHO1 £35,967 to £40,459 Applications are invited for Clinical Fellows at Foundation Year 1 (FY1 equivalent) posts at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. This post is available to start on 1st April 2026 until 4th August 2026. The Successful candidate will be placed within the acute frailty team supporting the frailty unit. Applicants must have full GMC (UK) registration, sound academic knowledge, good communication skills and be an effective team player. Successful applicants will join a team of multidisciplinary team of doctors, specialist nurses and AHP’s, receive high quality clinical and educational supervision and have opportunities to attend all foundation year teaching sessions. Certification of obtainment of FY1 competencies can be provided at the end of the year and progression to training programmes will be actively encouraged. This post would also be suitable for international medical graduates who want to pursue a career in the NHS, regardless of previous clinical experience. We have a track record of enabling trainee progression with more experienced candidates who have not previously worked in the UK finding the post a very rewarding introduction. Salary will be at the appropriate point dependent on experience on the salary scale. The region offers beautiful countryside, from rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to forests and hills. There is a wide range of activities on offer, with water sports, fishing, birdwatching, golf, mountain-biking or cycling along the network of rural roads and much more. Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Lake District and Newcastle are within 2 hours’ drive.
