About the Role
<p>GVC is assisting a well-established, multi-site veterinary practice in Bedford to recruit an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon. This is a replacement role and offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated vet to join a supportive team with strong medical expertise and opportunities for clinical development, including potential certificate support.</p>
<p>
<strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Conduct consultations, medical and surgical procedures across the main hospital site</li>
<li>Share caseload between routine medicine and surgery (consults-only applicants may also be considered)</li>
<li>Support inpatients and liaise with the nurse team for triage and ongoing care</li>
<li>Collaborate with colleagues across veterinary, nursing, and admin teams</li>
<li>Contribute to the development of practice services and support the team’s clinical growth</li>
</ul>
<p>
<strong>Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>RCVS registration</li>
<li>Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience in general practice, </li>
<li>Confident in first opinion medicine and surgery</li>
<li>Ophthalmology or dermatology experience beneficial but not essential</li>
<li>Professional, calm, and empathetic under pressure</li>
<li>Strong communication skills and a positive team-working attitude</li>
<li>Visa sponsorship is not offered</li>
</ul>
<p>
<strong>Working Pattern:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>4-day working week </li>
<li>OOH/emergency support: 1 in 4 Friday nights, either on-site or contactable by phone; nurse triage in place</li>
<li>Accommodation available for vets wishing to stay on-site for Friday coverage</li>
</ul>
