<strong>Hospital Waste Porter</strong><br><strong>Location: Northampton</strong><br><strong>Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am – 3pm</strong><br><strong>Pay: Band 2 (£12.71 per hour)</strong><br><br><strong>About the Role</strong><br>We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a <strong>Waste Porter</strong> to join their Waste & Recycling team. This is an important frontline role supporting the safe, efficient movement and disposal of waste across a busy hospital environment.<br>You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service to wards and departments, ensuring all waste streams are handled safely, compliantly, and in line with environmental legislation.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><ul><li>Collect, transport, and dispose of clinical, hazardous, and general waste, as well as laundry, across the site</li><ul><li>Ensure correct segregation, handling, and storage of all waste types</li><li>Exchange sharps containers and manage confidential and condemned waste</li><li>Operate equipment such as electric tugs, compactors, and balers (full training provided)</li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organisation of waste storage areas and external zones</li><li>Complete all required documentation in line with legal and organisational requirements</li><li>Report faults, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly</li><li>Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and external contractors</li><li>Support continuous improvement within the waste and recycling service</li></ul></ul><br><strong>About You</strong><br>The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively in a physically demanding role within a fast-paced environment.<br><br><strong>You will have:</strong><br><ul><li>The ability to carry out manual handling tasks (lifting, pushing, pulling)</li><ul><li>Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team</li><li>A proactive approach with the ability to follow instructions and work independently</li><li>Strong awareness of health and safety practices</li><li>The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure</li></ul></ul><br><strong>Training & Requirements</strong><br><ul><li>Full training will be provided</li><ul><li>Flexibility to work across different areas as required</li><li>Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and professionalism</li><li>Willingness to complete mandatory training and complete all vetting checks</li></ul></ul><br><strong>Additional Information</strong><br><ul><li>This role is subject to a DBS check and sufficient compliance documentation being completed.
