About the Role
A <strong>Reputable Housing Provider</strong> is seeking an experienced and highly organised <strong>Democratic Services Officer</strong><strong> (fully site based)</strong> to provide professional policy and administrative support to Cabinet Members and senior leadership.<br><br> This role is critical in <strong>supporting Cabinet Members</strong> to effectively deliver their portfolio responsibilities and organisational priorities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments, ensuring executive decision-making processes are supported through high-quality research, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.<br> The postholder will play a key role in ensuring Cabinet Members are fully supported through proactive planning, structured communications, and effective casework and diary <br><br><strong>Cabinet and Executive Support</strong><ul><li>Provide flexible administrative and policy support to <strong>2–3 Cabinet Members</strong>, enabling effective delivery of portfolio priorities.</li><ul><li>Support executive decision-making through coordination of briefing materials, policy summaries, and stakeholder information.</li><li>Undertake research on a range of policy and operational topics, identifying key options and presenting findings in structured briefing notes.</li><li>Ensure all information provided to Cabinet Members is accurate, timely, and of the highest professional standard.</li></ul></ul><strong>Diary and Inbox Management</strong><ul><li><strong>Manage complex and fast-moving diaries</strong>, ensuring priorities are scheduled efficiently and time is used effectively.</li><ul><li>Provide comprehensive inbox management, including triaging enquiries, responding to correspondence, and escalating urgent matters appropriately.</li><li>Draft responses and commission actions from senior managers where required, ensuring deadlines are met.</li></ul></ul><strong>Meeting and Briefing Coordination</strong><ul><li>Coordinate Cabinet Member meetings, including:<ul><li>Agenda planning</li><ul><li>Venue and logistics arrangements</li><li>Circulation of briefing papers</li><li>Minute-taking and action tracking</li></ul></ul></li><ul><li>Support the delivery of Cabinet Member briefings through effective planning and best-practice administrative processes.</li></ul></ul><strong>Stakeholder Engagement</strong><ul><li>Build strong relationships across internal departments, senior leadership teams, and external stakeholders.</li><ul><li>Liaise with residents, community groups, voluntary organisations, and partner agencies.</li><li>Maintain professional communication standards while supporting public engagement activities.</li></ul></ul><strong>Casework and Policy Support</strong><ul><li>Provide structured casework management support to Cabinet Members.</li><ul><li>Monitor emerging policy issues and ensure key matters are escalated appropriately.</li><li>Support communications activities in collaboration with communications and policy teams.</li></ul></ul><strong>Operational Support</strong><ul><li>Facilitate site visits, public meetings, and stakeholder events.</li><ul><li>Provide support outside core hours where required to meet Cabinet schedules.</li><li>Provide cover support to the Leader’s Office when necessary.</li><li>Undertake additional duties consistent with the level of the role.</li></ul></ul><strong>Knowledge and Competencies</strong><ul><li>Good understanding of <strong>local government
