About the Role
<p><strong>Edinburgh-based Tech Organisation</strong> are looking for an <strong>Electronics-focused Hardware Engineer</strong> to join their growing engineering team, working on innovative <strong>IoT products</strong> that help monitor and protect critical infrastructure.</p>
</p>
<p>They’ve recently secured <strong>significant investment</strong> and are entering a really <strong>exciting stage of growth</strong>. They’ve already built a strong customer base and have a healthy pipeline of work, so they’re now looking to grow their engineering function to meet demand.</p>
</p>
<p>At the moment there is a dedicated <strong>Hardware Engineer</strong> in place, who you’ll work very closely with, giving you the <strong>opportunity to learn</strong> from someone that’s been instrumental in developing the company’s products over the last few years.</p>
</p>
<p>The work is <strong>varied and fast-paced</strong>, with a strong focus on the next generation of their sensor technology and power systems – so you’ll be closely involved in that development work from day one. You’d be joining a <strong>close-knit engineering environment</strong> where Hardware, Firmware and Software all sit together in Edinburgh, giving you the opportunity to <strong>collaborate</strong> across multiple disciplines whilst being involved throughout the full product lifecycle.</p>
</p>
<p>They’re looking for someone that’s comfortable getting involved across <strong>the full hardware development process</strong>, from requirements gathering and PCB design through to debugging, testing and manufacturing support.</p>
</p>
<p><strong><em>You’ll ideally have experience with most of the following:</em></strong></p>
<p>** PCB Layout</p>
<p>** Schematic Design</p>
<p>** Analogue & Digital Electronics</p>
<p>** Microcontrollers</p>
<p>** Hardware Debugging & Fault Finding</p>
<p>** Low Power / Battery Powered Systems</p>
</p>
<p><strong><em>Experience with the following would also be highly desirable:</em></strong></p>
<p>** EMC / Environmental Testing</p>
<p>** Design for Test (DFT) & Design for Manufacture (DFM)</p>
<p>** IoT or Sensor-Based Products</p>
<p>** ECAD libraries & component creation</p>
</p>
<p>Beyond the technical skills, they’re really looking for someone that’s <strong>eager to get stuck in</strong> and enjoys working in a smaller engineering team, where everyone has the opportunity to <strong>influence products</strong>, <strong>suggest improvements </strong>and <strong>take ownership</strong> of your work.</p>
</p>
<p>Their office is based in <strong>Edinburgh city centre</strong>, within walking distance of both Waverley and Haymarket stations. Due to the nature of the role and access to specialist equipment, they’re ideally looking for someone that’s happy to <strong>work largely onsite</strong>, although there is some flexibility.</p>
</p>
<p>In return they’re able to offer a <strong>salary from £35,000 – £50,000</strong> depending on experience, alongside the opportunity to work closely with (and learn from) a seasoned Hardware Specialist.
