About the Role
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Senior Property Accountant for a direct hire in Lutz, FL.
Pay: $90,000- $95,000
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Summary
Responsible for the accounting, analysis, and compliance of property, plant, and equipment (PPE) across utility operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance (FERC/FAC), and operational alignment for capital assets within a regulated energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and account for capital work orders in compliance with GAAP, FERC, and SOX requirements.
Perform unitization of plant assets, ensuring accuracy of spend and proper asset classification.
Prepare and post asset transfers, retirements, and depreciation entries.
Maintain and support FERC Continuing Property Records and regulatory reporting requirements.
Execute month-end close activities including:AFUDC calculations.
Asset unitizations and retirements.
Depreciation and ARO calculations.
Deliver PPE data for forecasting, business planning, and cost-of-service models.
Utilize and support PowerPlan, SAP, and Work Management Systems.
Lead efforts in master data management, reconciliation, and error resolution.
Identify and implement process improvements and best practices.
Partner with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Finance, Tax, and Regulatory teams.
Provide guidance on capital vs. O&M classification and asset accounting policies.
Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and external reporting requirements.
Train and mentor internal stakeholders on property accounting processes
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
4+ years of experience in:Fixed asset accounting, OR
Utility/energy operations, OR
Capital project accounting.
Strong understanding of:GAAP and/or FERC accounting.
Property, plant, and equipment lifecycle (capitalization, depreciation, retirements).
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven, high-accountability environment.
Preferred:
Experience in a regulated utility environment (power generation, transmission, distribution).
Familiarity with FERC, CFR, FAC, and FPSC regulations.
Experience with PowerPlan, SAP, WORKPro, or similar systems.
CPA, PE, or Master’s degree.
Experience in audit support, regulatory filings, or cost-of-service modeling.
