We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking for an interim Head of Education Quality & Inclusion to join their team.
In this role you will lead the strategic delivery and continuous improvement of education, early years, and SEND services across a defined geographical area, ensuring strong outcomes for all children and young people. You'll also provide senior leadership, drive partnership working, and oversee performance, inclusion, and statutory responsibilities within a complex, high-impact public service environment.

Rate: £500 per day via Umbrella, Inside IR35

Role Details
- Provide strategic leadership for education, early years, and SEND services across a defined geographical area, driving improved outcomes for children and young people
- Lead the delivery of the Council’s Education Strategy, ensuring services meet statutory duties and align with corporate priorities
- Build and influence strong partnerships with schools, early years providers, and stakeholders to improve performance and accountability
- Oversee service performance through data analysis, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across key areas such as attendance, inclusion, and SEND
- Champion inclusive practice, challenging underperformance and supporting providers to raise standards and attainment
- Lead and develop a high-performing workforce, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to maximise impact and ensure sustainable service delivery
- Contribute to senior leadership, including deputising for the Deputy Director and supporting strategic and operational decision-making
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) with evidence of leadership and management development
- Significant senior leadership experience within education, early years, or a local authority setting
- Strong understanding of the education landscape (0–25), including SEND, inclusion, and statutory responsibilities
- Proven ability to build partnerships and influence stakeholders to deliver system-wide improvement
- Experience driving organisational or cultural change within complex environments
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to improve performance and outcomes
- Demonstrable experience managing budgets, resources, and large teams effectively
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to inclusion and equity
