About the role

The project focuses on delivering a blend of consultancy and Developer Relations (DevRel) expertise centered around Bazel. Deliverables encompass: – Executing smooth Bazel migrations – Promoting Bazel ecosystems and engineering expertise through technical conferences, meetups, blog posts, and social media channels – Developing high-quality open-source and internal solutions tailored to Bazel – Supporting pre-sales activities and strategic technical consultancy – Delivering training sessions and mentoring development teams on Bazel best practices

This collaboration may also involve flexible engagement in parallel Bazel-related projects.

Bazel, Starlark, C++

The engagement involves high multitasking capabilities, delivering public presentations, authoring technical articles, and maintaining active engagement within developer communities (e.g., Bazel Slack). It requires driving technical initiatives and applying creative problem-solving approaches.

An elite engineering squad consisting of 2 Developer Advocates / Bazel Experts.

The scope of cooperation focuses on completing the migration to Bazel and collaborating with experienced engineers on the client side. Managing a massive codebase exceeding 10 million lines of code.

Resolving obscure compilation/testing issues while optimizing and maintaining high code performance.

4 Developers and a Team Lead role

The project involves collaboration with a leading vendor of Caching and Remote Build Execution (RBE) solutions for Bazel and other build tools, delivering professional services related to Bazel and build automation. The scope of cooperation includes active involvement in open-source and research initiatives, exploring topics such as alternative rules for TypeScript and Gazelle-like solutions for C++. Continuous skill development and upskilling in Bazel technologies are integral to this cooperation.

– Conducting R&D around various tooling within the Bazel ecosystem
– Solving complex technical challenges across a frequently changing multi-technology stack, requiring high flexibility
– Integrating with customers and delivering world-class engineering services

Currently a team of 2 consultants, expanding to 3+ cooperators, interfacing with a Project Manager for alignment. The engagement requires smooth cooperation with the Professional Services, Customer Success, and Development teams from the partner’s side, with team members distributed across the EU and the USA.

Required Expertise & Competencies

• Proven track record in developing solutions around build tools, maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, and optimizing SDLC processes
• Deep expertise in Bazel is highly valued, with openness to Experts possessing a strong background in alternative build tools and readiness to master Bazel
• Practical, hands-on knowledge of at least one build tool other than Bazel
• Strong proficiency in at least one software ecosystem (JVM, Rust, Go, TypeScript, C++, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills combined with a pragmatic approach to technical problem-solving
• Extensive experience in team-based project delivery
• Proactive approach to blocker resolution and collaborative technical alignment
• High autonomy in task execution and output delivery
• Public speaking, technical blogging, and community engagement experience is a significant asset, alongside strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing capabilities
