COMMERCIAL SOLUTIONS OPENING

Established under the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act and codified in DFARS Subpart 212.70, the Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) provides a streamlined, sole-source acquisition pathway for innovative commercial items, technologies, and services. Spearheaded by the Air Force’s AFWERX program, the CSO allows contracting officers to rapidly procure solutions—up to $100M per award without additional approvals—that directly fulfill requirements, close capability gaps, or deliver technological advancements.

ACES’ indefinite CSO award, earned through extensive demonstrations of our Advanced Combat Energy Solutions (ACES), ensures agencies have an enduring, approved mechanism to rapidly access next-generation energy capabilities. This vehicle eliminates traditional procurement delays, giving contracting officers and program managers a compliant, proven tool to bring innovation directly to the mission.

Agile Combat Energy Storage (ACES) offers modules that excel in durability, fast-charging, and longevity. These modules require no maintenance, have zero performance degradation over decades, and function in extreme temperatures without climate control. They boast 10x faster charging, over 50,000 cycles, and are eco-friendly, without hazardous materials or lithium dependence. This technology, with its high energy density, eliminates traditional battery limitations and mitigates supply chain vulnerabilities. It provides a resilient, cost-effective solution for military operations, reducing downtime, fuel consumption, and logistical complexities. ACES proposes a phased implementation plan, ensuring smooth integration and maximizing operational readiness.
