<h2><strong>Experienced Veterinary Surgeon – Buckinghamshire</strong></h2> <p><strong>Salary: £55,000–£65,000 DOE + bonus (higher for certificate holders/AVP)</strong><br /> <strong>4-day week • No nights • No on-call • 1:4 weekends</strong></p> <p>We’re looking for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a forward-thinking, supportive and genuinely people-first practice in Buckinghamshire. If you want to work in a hospital that invests heavily in its team, its facilities and its culture—this is the role for you.</p> <hr> <h3><strong>Why this role stands out</strong></h3> <p>This is an experienced vet position where you’ll have the freedom to work up cases properly, shape your clinical interests, and collaborate with a large, skilled team—including surgical, imaging, medicine and ECC talent.</p> <p>The practice is currently undergoing a major expansion designed entirely around clinical excellence, sustainability and colleague wellbeing, including:</p> <ul> <li> <p>This includes the following facilities :</p> <ul> <li> <p>Dedicated dental suite</p> <li> <p>Imaging room</p> <li> <p>CT suite (GE Revolution ACT, 32-slice)</p> <li> <p>Larger dog &amp; cat wards</p> <li> <p>Additional consult rooms (7 total)</p> <li> <p>3 theatres</p> <li> <p>Spacious colleague area</p> </ul> </ul> <p>This is a team that cares about learning, doing things properly, and supporting each other—without egos.</p> <hr> <h3><strong>About the Team</strong></h3> <ul> <li> <p>Led by an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery</p> <li> <p>10 vets, 8 RVNs, 3 SVNs, 4 VCAs, plus an experienced client care &amp; admin team</p> <li> <p>Regular clinical team meetings and full practice meetings, everyone has a voice</p> <li> <p>Strong focus on development, case discussions and clinical standards</p> </ul> <hr> <h3><u><strong>Clinical Facilities</strong></u></h3> <p><strong>Orthopaedics:</strong> TPLO, ESF, locking systems, Hall drill<br /> <strong>Monitoring:</strong> multiparameters, capnography, syringe drivers, infusion pumps<br /> <strong>Imaging &amp; Scopes:</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Logic R8 ultrasound with Doppler</p> <li> <p>Gastroscope &amp; bronchoscope</p> <li> <p>Karl Storz endoscopy/laparoscopy/arthroscopy</p> <li> <p>Dental X-ray</p> <li> <p>Full imaging suite including 32-slice CT (from late 2025)<br /> <strong>Additional:</strong> K-Laser, nerve stimulator, EPOC blood gases, HT Vista tumour screening<br /> <strong>Rehab:</strong> in-house physiotherapist + hydrotherapy treadmill</p> </ul> <hr> <h3><strong>The Role</strong></h3> <ul> <li> <p>Manage your own caseload confidently</p> <li> <p>Take on advanced work-ups aligned to your interests</p> <li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues in surgery, imaging, medicine and ECC</p> <li> <p>Opportunity to pursue certificates (full funding and support)</p> <li> <p>Optional involvement in mentoring junior vets</p> </ul> <hr> <h3><strong>Rota &amp; Work–Life Balance</strong></h3> <ul> <li> <p>4-day week with a generally fixed day off</p> <li> <p>1:4 weekends</p> <li> <p>No nights, no on-call (Vets Now covers OOH &amp; inpatients)</p> </ul> <hr> <h3><strong>What You’ll Bring</strong></h3> <ul> <li> <p>5+ years small animal experience</p> <li> <p>Confident with routine soft tissue surgery and imaging</p> <li> <p>Able to manage or triage complex cases</p> <li> <p>Working towards a certificate, or already hold one (salary uplift available)</p> </ul> <hr> <h3><strong>Salary &amp; Benefits</strong></h3> <ul> <li> <p>£55,000–£65,000 DOE</p> <li> <p>Higher salary for certificate holders/AVPs</p> <li> <p>£2,500 CPD + 5 days</p> <li> <p>Full support for certificates</p> <li> <p>RCVS, VDS, BVA fees paid</p> <li> <p>4 weeks’ holiday + bank holidays + birthday off</p> <li> <p>Enhanced maternity pay (13 weeks full + 13 weeks half)</p> <li> <p>Company pension</p> </ul> <hr> <p> <strong>Location</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>40 minutes to London via fast rail</p> <li> <p>25 minutes to Luton Airport</p> </ul> <hr> <p><strong>Contact Steph for further information or send your CV across today! 🙂</strong><br /> Stephanie.Hellier@gvcvets.com | 01392 793069 </p>
