Home News Creative Careers Fair enables students to find out about exciting opportunities Creative Careers Fair enables students to find out about exciting opportunities 3 April 2025 Intro Placement and Employment Services welcomed more than two hundred students and graduates to their annual Creative Careers Fair recently in Weston Hall at St Mary’s Road. It was a dedicated event for London College of Music (LCM) and the London School of Film, Media, and Design (LSFMD) students. Main body Twenty-eight organisations from across the creative industries were at the fair to tell students about the opportunities they have available for volunteering, placements and employment. The UWL Careers and Volunteering Teams were also in attendance to offer students advice and help. The fair featured a showcase of student work including graphics, fashion, photography, VFX showreel and interior architecture prints. Playing in the background was music from students signed to UWL’s in-house record label London Noise Records. Two UWL alumni were at the fair representing specialist crewing company Spartan Crew and party and event planning company Sharky and George. We’re here looking for volunteers to help with our work to encourage more young people into broadcasting,” explained a representative from charity Rise Academy. “They will help with going into schools and running summer schools and can help with postproduction and graphics.” No Turning Back 2020 - whose aim is to improve diversity in communications and marketing - were at the fair telling students about their jobs zone. Two volunteers told us: A lot of these jobs don’t need experience. We both work at PR agencies and do this on the side, talking to students about our experiences in the industry.” Someone from the Ezen Foundation whose mission is to share the culture and history of Japan, said: We are here to find volunteers in areas including videography, video editing, graphic design, communication, social media, advertising, audio and music." Global advertising and communications company Publicis Groupe were telling students about their entry level opportunities as well as their summer internship programme. We’re more interested in passion, interest and transferable skills than specific degree subjects." A representative from The British Museum explained: We’re looking for people who are interested in micro-volunteering and building their experience. We want to create a day where students can come in and meet people who work at the museum, do a task and go on a tour. We haven’t decided what the role will be yet, we will tailor it to the students who are interested.” Student Sukhman enthused: This fair has been such a good opportunity to interact with employers and sign up to their newsletters.
