Use your mathematical modelling skills to research aerospace CFD problems
This established engineering consultancy carries out specialist computational fluid dynamics and multi-physics modelling for a range of industries, although substantially for aerospace and defence projects. Using bespoke continuum mechanics software, developed in-house allows them to tackle scenarios which are beyond the capabilities of standard industry tools.
The work often involves contributing to international projects in areas such as hypersonic aviation and space exploration. Typical areas of investigation might include shock wave physics, spacecraft heat shield performance, hypersonic and high enthalpy flows. Joining their team as a Numerical Modeller, you will contribute your modelling and physics expertise to the development of software and simulations.
You will hold a PhD or advanced degree in Physics or Engineering (or similar subject), with substantial experience in physics-based numerical modelling, particularly fluid dynamics. The ideal domain knowledge lies within high-speed flight, planetary entry, thermal protection and high enthalpy flows. Prior to your university qualifications, you will have gained an undergraduate degree at a highly-ranked university following A levels graded at A* and A.
This is an excellent opportunity to join this small and innovative company, and make very significant contributions to world-leading scientific endeavours.
Due to the defence nature of some of their projects you must be a UK national (applicants with dual nationality cannot be considered).
